How does Balticfloc invest in research and development?
Developing new cellulose fiber materials requires manufacturing experience and regular product testing, but product development also needs a strong foundation in scientific research. Balticfloc collaborates with research institutions in Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, the Czech Republic, Germany and Finland to explore new applications for cellulose fibers and develop solutions for different industries.
These partnerships also help us find new uses for raw materials that have traditionally been more difficult to process, creating opportunities to turn them into useful products with new properties.

Why is recycling waste paper important?
Paper can be recycled and used as a raw material for new products, reducing the need for virgin natural resources. Keeping waste paper out of landfills is one of the most visible benefits of recycling, but the process offers other advantages as well:
- helps conserve forest resources, with one metric ton of recycled waste paper saving an average of 4 cubic meters of wood, or approximately 12–14 mature trees;
- reduces CO2 emissions;
- reduces water and energy consumption.
At Balticfloc, the waste paper we collect for recycling becomes a raw material for new cellulose fiber products. We handle the entire process, from receiving and recycling the paper to manufacturing the finished products.
Why is it important to sort paper and cardboard?
A large amount of paper and cardboard still ends up in household waste after use, even though much of it can be recycled. Sorting these materials separately is an important first step in keeping them in the resource cycle and making them available for reuse.
The cleaner and better sorted the collected waste paper is, the more ways it can be reused and the higher the quality of the cellulose fibers produced from it. Every household, business and institution can contribute simply by separating recyclable paper and cardboard from other waste.
